Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a worm processing device which achieves downsizing and shortening of cycle time, and to provide a worm processing method.SOLUTION: A worm processing device 30 processes a worm 11 in which a spiral tooth part 14 is formed on an outer peripheral surface of a worm shaft and includes: a spindle chuck unit 31 which holds a rod-like workpiece W extending in an X direction; and a cutting unit 53 which is configured to move relative to the spindle chuck unit 31 in the X direction and cuts an outer peripheral surface of the workpiece W. The cutting unit 53 forms the tooth part 14 and cuts burrs, which occur during formation of the tooth part 14 in at least a first end part of the workpiece W as seen in the X direction, together with a part of the tooth part 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
