Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst device for an internal combustion engine capable of early activating a catalyst when a temperature of exhaust gas is low.SOLUTION: A catalyst device 10 disposed in an exhaust passage 108 of exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine 100 includes: a catalyst section 6 for purifying the exhaust gas; and a heater section 4 disposed upstream of the catalyst section in the exhaust passage and heating the exhaust gas. Pressure loss of the catalyst section in the flow speed direction in the exhaust passage is made smaller than that of the catalyst section in the direction orthogonal to the flow speed direction, and heat capacity of the catalyst section is larger than that of the heater section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
