Abstract:
To provide a newsprint paper is formed of a raw material pulp composed of used paper pulp as a main component, in which the newsprint paper has properties that are sufficient to solve the problems of paper strength reduction and strike through even though it has a basis weight of 40 g/mor less, and to provide a method for producing the newsprint paper.SOLUTION: There is provided a newsprint paper which is characterized in that it is formed of a raw material pulp consisting of 50 mass% or more of used paper pulp, an ash content derived from the raw material pulp is 8 to 12 mass%, calcium carbonate and white carbon are added, a product ash content is 15 to 40 mass%, and a basis weight is 40 g/mor less. There is provided a method for producing the newsprint paper, which comprises: preparing raw material pulp slurry where the raw material pulp consisting of 50 mass% or more of used paper pulp is adjusted such that its ash content becomes 8 to 12 mass%, preparing paper making pulp slurry where calcium carbonate and white carbon are added into the raw material pulp slurry such that the product ash content becomes 15 to 40 mass%, and paper making where pH of the papermaking slurry is adjusted to pH 6 to 9, and the paper making conditions are adjusted so as to obtain the newsprint paper having basis weight of 40 g/mor less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
