Abstract:
To avoid that warmup control for raising a temperature of a catalyst is unnecessarily performed though the temperature of the catalyst is already high at a start of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In a control device of an internal combustion engine, when starting the stopped internal combustion engine, a length of a period after a stop of the internal combustion engine up to a start of the activation of the internal combustion engine, and an atmospheric temperature during the period are firstly referred. When a current temperature of an exhaust emission purification catalyst attached in an exhaust passage is estimated to be not lower than a prescribed value, prescribed control for raising the temperature of the catalyst at a period immediately after a start of the internal combustion engine is not performed, or the prescribed control is performed in the period. In the other case, when starting the stopped internal combustion engine, the current temperature of the exhaust emission purification catalyst attached in the exhaust passage is measured, and when the temperature is not lower than a prescribed value, prescribed control for raising the temperature of the catalyst in a period immediately after the start of the internal combustion engine is not performed, or the prescribed control is performed in the period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
