Abstract:
To provide a display device giving higher contrast with lower power consumption.SOLUTION: The display device includes: an image display panel 30 having a display region OA where a plurality of pixels 48 is disposed; a light source device 50 having an illumination region LA for irradiating the display region OA with light through one surface side of the image display panel 30; and a dimming panel 80 disposed between the display panel 30 and the light source device 50, which has a dimming region DA capable of adjusting the transmittance of light exiting through the display region OA to the other surface side of the display panel. The illumination region LA is provided with a plurality of light sources 51 each individually adjustable for the luminance and functioning as one first division region, and with a light guide plate 52. The dimming region DA is provided with a plurality of second division regions 81 each individually adjustable for the transmittance of light. The one first division region overlaps the plurality of second division regions 81, and one second division region 81 overlaps the plurality of pixels 48.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
