Abstract:
To provide a synthetic method of methyl mercaptan which uses no methanol, is environmentally friendly, has low ecological toxicity and is more safety.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing methyl mercaptan by a batch method or a continuous method, preferably the continuous method. It includes at least following processes: a) a process for reacting at least one kind of hydrocarbon raw material in the presence of hydrogen sulfide (HS), and optionally in the presence of sulfur (S) to generate carbon disulfide (CS) and hydrogen (H), b) a process for reacting the carbon disulfide (CS) by hydrogenation in the presence of the hydrogen (H) obtained in the process a) to generate methyl mercaptan (CHSH), hydrogen sulfide (HS) and optionally hydrogen (H), c) a process for recycling the hydrogen sulfide (HS) generated in the process b) to the process a), and d) a process for recovering the methyl mercaptan.SELECTED DRAWING: None
