Abstract:
To provide a preheater that preheats a supply passage without requiring detaching of a fastener.SOLUTION: A preheater (20) preheats a supply passages (1, 7) for guiding molten metal to a metal cavity and heats the supply passages (1, 7) to a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point of the molten metal. The preheater (20) comprises: a nozzle (2a) for sending a current of hot air; and a filter (3) formed of the same metal as the molten metal or alloy. The supply passages (1, 7) have a weir (1) and a sprue insert (7). The molten metal passes through the sprue insert (7) and the weir (1) in this order to be guided into the metal cavity (C2). The filter (3) is disposed on a metal cavity (C2) side opening (1c) of the weir (1). The nozzle (2a) sends the current of the hot air to the sprue insert (7) and also melts the filter (3) by means of the current of the hot air.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
