Abstract:
To provide an optical device using a liquid crystal element, which can achieve desired optical characteristics regardless of alignment directions of liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer.SOLUTION: An optical device 10 of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal layer having liquid crystal molecules aligned in one direction; a plurality of first electrodes 13B arranged on one surface of the liquid crystal layer, each extending in another direction and mutually kept at a common potential; a plurality of second electrodes 15B arranged on the one surface of the liquid crystal layer, each extending in the another direction between adjoining electrode portions of the plurality of first electrodes and mutually kept at a common potential; and a drive circuit 16 for applying an alternating voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
