Title:
LIGHT-ACTIVATED CHIMERIC OPSINS AND METHODS OF USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2019205455
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To provide compositions comprising chimeric light-activated protein cation channels which are capable of mediating a depolarizing current in a cell when the cell is illuminated with light.SOLUTION: Provided are animal cells comprising a light-activated protein expressed on a cell membrane, the protein being (a) a chimeric protein derived from VChR1 from Volvox carteri and ChR1 from Chlamydomonas reinhardti, which protein comprises the amino acid sequence of VChR1 having at least the first and second transmembrane helices replaced by the first and second transmembrane helices of ChR1; (b) responsive to light; and (c) capable of mediating a depolarizing current in a cell when the cell is illuminated with light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1a-b
