Abstract:
To provide a fuse capable of suppressing overcurrent rapidly while facilitating high hold currents during normal operation, without increasing the overall size of a battery pack.SOLUTION: A disc fuse includes: an electrically insulating substrate 12 having vias 24, 26 which are formed through the substrate and extend between a first surface and a second surface of the substrate; an electrically conductive first terminal 14 disposed on the first surface of the substrate; and an electrically conductive second terminal 16 disposed on the second surface of the substrate. The second terminal 16 includes an outer portion having an inner edge defining through-holes 42, 44 in the second terminal 16, and the second terminal 16 further includes fuse portions 38, 40 extending from the inner edge, the fuse portions 38, 40 terminating in connection pads 38b, 40b, respectively. The substrate functions as an electrically insulating barrier between the first terminal and the second terminal, and the vias provide an electrical connection between the first terminal and the connection pads.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1C
