Abstract:
To provide a wire electric discharge machine which can perform efficient processing, and a control method.SOLUTION: A wire electric discharge machine 10 controls a second motor 56 for feeding a wire electrode 12 in a travel direction so that a feed speed of the wire electrode 12 becomes a set speed during a processing period from a first time point T1 at which the wire electrode 12 relatively moving in a direction crossing the travel direction in which the wire electrode 12 extends with respect to a processing object W enters the processing object W, to a second time point T2 at which the wire electrode 12 exits the processing object W. On the other hand, in at least one of a first non-processing period r1 from a processing start time point T0 to the first time point T1 and a second non-processing period r2 from the second time point T2 to a processing end time point T3, the wire electric discharge machine controls the second motor 56 so that the feed speed of the wire electrode 12 becomes slower than the set speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
