Abstract:
To provide a method for stably manufacturing a positive electrode active material capable of showing superior battery characteristics without causing a handling problem.SOLUTION: A method is arranged for manufacturing a positive electrode active material consisting of a lithium transition metal composite oxide manufactured by performing a thermal treatment on a mixture of a transition metal composite hydroxide as a precursor, of which the compositional formula is represented by e.g. NixMnyCozMt(OH)2+α (x+y+z+t=1, 0.3≤x≤0.95, 0.05≤y≤0.55, 0≤z≤0.4, 0≤t≤0.1, -0.20≤α≤0.20, M is one or more additive elements selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, and W), and a lithium compound. In the method, the thermal treatment is performed in an ambient atmosphere in a low-temperature region of a given threshold temperature or below, and it is performed in an oxygen atmosphere in a high-temperature region higher than the given threshold temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
