Abstract:
To provide a character input device that makes it possible to input intended characters even if characters representing correct letter forms cannot be handwritten.SOLUTION: A character input device according to an embodiment of the present invention stores portions each constituting a part of a plurality of characters in a memory 12, and inputs character data of handwritten characters using a pen 18 with respect to a touch panel type display unit 17. Based on the character data, a CPU 11 executes first handwritten character recognition for recognizing a portion that constitutes a part of a character corresponding to a handwritten character. The CPU determines a partial portion of the character corresponding to the handwritten character, based on a partial configuration of the character corresponding to the handwritten character recognized by the first handwritten character recognition and the portion constituting a part of the character stored in the memory 21. The CPU further executes second handwritten character recognition processing for recognizing the character corresponding to the handwritten character based on the character data, using the character including the determined portion as a target.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
