Abstract:
To provide a faster and more efficient technique for handwriting on small screens.SOLUTION: A method using a portable electronic device includes: displaying a user input interface including a stroke input area 608 of a touch sensitive surface; determining, on receipt of a first stroke set 612 in the stroke input area, a first text on the basis of the first stroke set; displaying a first text in a message area 609 of the display; determining one or more candidates on the basis of the first text; displaying, on receipt of a user input via a rotatable input mechanism 602, at least one of the candidates in response to the user input; displaying a selection indicator indicating a selected candidates of the candidates; and replacing display of the first text in the message area with display of the selected candidate after displaying at least one of the candidates and the selection indicator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6C
