Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method of a cutting tool capable of stably imparting high compressive residual stress to a hard coating film and a tool base body, and capable of improving defect resistance of a cutting edge thereby.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a cutting tool 10 having a tool base body 1 made of a sintered alloy, a hard coating film 2 having at least a layer arranged on an outer surface of the tool base body 1 and constituted of either of carbide, nitride and carbonitride or a complex compound of these and a cutting edge 3 formed in a ridge line part of the tool base body 1 and including a part positioned in the ridge line part among the hard coating film 2, and includes a laser peening process of imparting compressive residual stress to a surface layer of the hard coating film 2 and the tool base body 1 by directly irradiating a pulse laser L less than 100 ps in a pulse width on the hard coating film 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
