Abstract:
A fishing rod of three-layer construction including an inner layer 2 having carbon fibers extending circumferentially of the rod, an intermediate layer 1 having carbon fibers extending axially of the rod, and an outer layer 3 having carbon fibers extending circumferentially of the rod. This fishing rod has a wall thickness t to inside diameter ratio of 0.03:1. The inner and outer layers 2, 3 have a total wall thickness less than a wall thickness of the intermediate layer 1. The carbon fibers in the intermediate layer 1 have an ultra high modulus of elasticity of at least 55t/mm<2>. The carbon fibers in the inner and outer layers 2, 3 have a modulus of elasticity at least 60% of the modulus of elasticity of the carbon fibers in the intermediate layer 1.
