Title:
【発明の名称】抗菌剤
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2535329
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE:An antimicrobial agent, containing interferon as an active ingredient and useful for cytozoic germs and opportunistic infectious germs. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial agent containing interferon (hereinafter abbreviated to IFN, e.g. IFN-alpha). Antibiotic substances directly act on bacteria infecting a host to exhibit antimicrobial effect without acting on cells of the host, activating the cells and showing antimicrobial action. The IFN is capable of exhibiting antimicrobial effect by activating macrophage (hereinafter abbreviated to Mphi) of the host and other cells. The antibiotic substances often will not exhibit effect on cytozoic germs, e.g. tubercle bacillus or salmonella, or opportunistic infection in which Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc., showing no pathogenicity in a health state exhibits the pathogenicity in case protective ability of the host is deteriorated by an anticancer agent or steroidal treatment. The IFN having a mode of action different from that of the antibiotic substances is capable of preventing and treating the above-mentioned infectious diseases.
