Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect the inclination of a document image at a high speed by a simple processing by converting a background component of a character-string to a fine line, and deriving an inclination of the obtained fine line. CONSTITUTION:When a background component of a character-string is converted to a fine line in a document image, background components between the character-string and the character-string, and between a character and a character are converted to a fine line. In this case, for instance, in 'D' and 'O', the background part surrounded by a stroke component, that is, a hole degenerates automatically. The fine line between the character-string and the character-string, that is, between a line and a line is longer than the fine line between the character and the character contained in each character-string, therefore, by using it as a feature, the fine line between the line and the line can be extracted. In such a way, by deriving an inclination of this fine line, an inclination of the character-string can be derived approximately.
