Abstract:
PURPOSE:To greatly improve working condition in the production line of an automobile by positioning a workpiece in a work station by means of a lower positioning guide and an upper positioning guide in a condition of keeping an automobile body posture. CONSTITUTION:A side member (workpiece) 1 is conveyed along a production line while being suspended in an erected posture by the hanger 6 of a conveying means 4. As the side member 1 is conveyed to a work station (a), the upper positioning guide 14c of a positioning means 14 is projected out forward to hold the side member 1 toward the upwardly opposite position of lower positioning guides 14a. After that, the movement of the hanger 6 is stopped and a vertical rod 7 is held in a position A. Thereupon, the rods of positioning cylinders 14b are projected out and the side member 1 is lifted up from the hanger 6 due to the lifting up of the lower positioning guides 14a, and the upper edge portion 1c thereof is fitted in the recessed groove of the upper positioning guide 14c and positioned while the lower edge corner portions 1a, 1b thereof being positioned and supported by the lower positioning guides 14a.
