Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent discharge between electrode axes securely and prolong a lifetime by setting the thickness (t) (mm) of a quartz tube so that (t) is larger than 0.2 or equal to 0.2 and smaller than 1.5 or equal to 1.5, and setting the length L (mm) of a part of the electrode axes exposed from the tip of the quartz tube so that L is smaller than 4.5 or equal to 4.5. CONSTITUTION:The basic end of a quarts tube 8 is buried in a crash sealing part 2 with an electrode axis 4, and the tip thereof is engaged with the electrode axis 4 so that the tip of the electrode axis 4 is projected at the predetermined length L to be exposed. The thickness (t) of the quartz tubes 8 is set so that (t) is larger than 0.2 or equal to 0.2 and (t) is smaller than 1.5 or equal to 1.5, and the length L of the tips of the electrode axes 4 projecting from the tip of the quartz tube 8 is set so that L is smaller than 4.5 or equal to 4.5. With this structure, discharge between electrode axes 4 at the relatively initial stage of a lifetime is prevented, and damage of the quartz tube 8 generatable at the last stage of the lifetime can be prevented to prevent discharge between the electrode axes 4. Damage of the electrode axes 4 can be thus prevented to prolong the lifetime.
