Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable it to change clamping force to be generated by a friction element irrespective of rotational frequency by constituting this friction element so as to achieve a damping effect as forming paired friction surfaces, rubbing with each other, whenever two clutch parts are rotated with each other. CONSTITUTION: On the inside of a second clutch part 3, there is a liquidtight exclusion chamber 13, and in the inner part of the inner space 14, a second friction element 5 movably shown by a square block 10 becomes a variable partition wall in a damping medium. There is a clearance 17 in space between a radial outer end of a leg part 18 and an outer side of the exclusion chamber 13, and this clearance determines a fluid clamping degree. Therefore the friction element 5 performs two functions, namely, one function that frictional clamping between both the clutch parts 2 and 3 via friction surfaces 6 and 7, and another function that fluid damping by means of forming the clearance 17 in the exclusion chamber 13 and making up a pistonlike partition wall, in combination. With the radial, motion of the friction element 5, the clearance 17 is also changed at the same time, whereby a variation in the fluid clamping of torsional vibration appears in the clutch.
