Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow the lower bit of multipulse interval quantization in the state of improving the degradation in coding efficiency by the various lengths of pitch periods by controlling the multipulse interval quantization range by pitch information. CONSTITUTION:A pulse quantizer 112 executes the quantization of the multipulse trains for prediction. Thus quantization is executed with respect to the max. amplitude of the pulses included in the multipulse train for prediction, the normalization expression value of the other pulse amplitude with respect to the max. amplitude and the intervals of the respective pulses. The quantization of the pulse intervals is so controlled in this case that the limitation of the quantization range is imparted in the form of setting the min. section in accordance with the pitch information outputted by a pitch extractor 111. The number of quantization pitches is thereby decreased and the coding efficiency is improved.
