Abstract:

PURPOSE:To reduce a memory for a difference value used for decoding of ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) of a table reference method by interpolating an amplitude level at the time of the decoding. CONSTITUTION:This device consists of a quantization table 101 which contains difference value data used for ADPCM waveform synthesis, a shifter 102, an adder 103 used to accumulate the difference value data, a quantization width pointer 104, an adaptive controller, a ternary up/down counter 106, an up/down counter 107, a code register 108 which stores ADPCM codes, a waveform code data ROM 109, registers 110 to 112 used to accumulate difference values, a selector 13, and a minimum value pointer 114. And, the difference values are stored in a difference value table used for the decoding operation for ADPCM codes while thinned out in the amplitude direction, and the amplitude level is interpolated to synthesize waveforms.
