Abstract:
Hair care compositions which contain the following ingredients (a) and (b): (a) an alpha-hydroxymonocarboxylic acid represented by the formula (1) or a salt thereof, (1) wherein R' is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a salt thereof; and (b) an aromatic alcohol represented by the formula (2) (2) wherein R2 is a hydrogen atom, a methyl or a methoxy group, X represents a single bond or a linear or branched alkylene or alkenylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, Y is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group, and p and q independently represent a number from 0 to 5, provide excellent sensation upon use, impart long-lasting softness to the hair, in particular to solid or stiff hair, and provide easy manageability and handling of the hair for a desired hairdo.
