Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for automatically hanging the ears of shells, capable of being simply switched into a process for boring the ear of one shell or a process for boring the ears of two shells, when the ears of the shells are hung from a culture rope by the use of a machine. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a shell-carrying means 31 for carrying shells 7 fed in a constant posture downward directing the ear portions 7a of the shells along a fed culture rope 51, and is used for attaching the shells 7 to the culture rope 51 with holding pins 59. Therein, stopper means 39, 41 for stopping the carried shells 7 at prescribed positions are disposed in the middle of the carrying route of the shell- carrying means 31. When the ears of two shells 7 are bored, the shells are stopped with the stopper means 39, 41 in a substantially horizontal state, and the ear portions 7a of the shells are bored in the state. When the ear of one shell 7 is bored, the shell 7 is stopped in a state that the shell 7 is downward inclined on the basis of the carrying direction and that a standard depression 8 formed at an intersection point between the main body of the shell 7 and its ear portion 7a is brought into contact with the stopper means 39 or 41, and the ear portion 7a of the shell 7 is bored in the state. Thus, the device can freely be switched into the process for opening the ear of one shell or the process for opening the ears of two shells.
