Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve emission performance and output and to reduce fuel, consumption by effectively preventing the blow-by of fresh air without increase in intake resistance, and improving scavenging efficiently. CONSTITUTION:The openings of an independent intake port 23 opening to a combustion chamber 6 and of an independent exhaust port 27 are arranged closely to each other. A protruding wall 33 extending in the lift direction of an exhaust valve 8 is formed along the peripheral edge on the side of an intake port of the valve seat 32 of the independent exhaust port 27 from the valve seat 32 toward the combustion chamber 6. The protruding quantity of the protruding wall 33 is established to be below the larger value of the lift quantity of the exhaust valve 8 at the top dead center and the value multiplied by 0.15 of a crank angle from the valve opening time of the intake valve 8 opening before the top dead center to this center. A clearance between the protruding wall 33 and the large diametral peripheral edge of an exhaust valve cap is established smaller than the above protruding quantity, and a clearance between the large diametral edge of the exhaust valve cap and a combustion chamber wall on the side of a bore peripheral edge is established larger than the clearance between the large diametral peripheral edge of the exhaust valve cap and the protruding wall 33.
