Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow a sample (sample liquid) containing a particulate component such as blood or urine to flow in a wide and thin flat flowing state using a flow cell whose passage has an aspect ratio of one-several times. CONSTITUTION:The cross section of the measuring passage 16 of a flow cell 10 is formed into a rectangular shape wherein the ratio of the sides thereof is one-several times and a sheath liquid dividing means 13 symmetrically dividing a sheath liquid into two streams is provided on the upstream side of the emitting orifice of a sample nozzle and the sample nozzle is arranged so that the omitting orifice thereof is positioned within the confluent region of the sheath liquids. In order to further enhance the flatness of a sample stream, the sample nozzle having a flat emitting orifice or a plurality of small emitting orifices laterally arranged in one row is used.
