Title:
【発明の名称】ステント
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3323203
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
A stent (220) made of a shape memory alloy, such as nitinol, comprises a coiled wire having at least one section wound in one sense and at least one section wound in the opposite sense. The stent (220) is deployed by being tightly wound on a catheter (24) and immobilized thereon at its respective end points (42) as well as at at least one intermediate point, such as points (140) where the winding changes direction. The immobilization may be by means of threads (28) engaged by wires (132, 133) through bores (232, 233) in the catheter interior. These threads (28) can be selectively released by successive removal of the wires (132, 133) so that the intermediate points (142) of the stent, for example, may be released before the end points (42) thereof. The threads (28) can alternatively be released by melting upon heating, or by breaking e.g. by using electrically conducive wires and applying current thereto.
