Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely remote ash from a filter when a filter is regenerated by arranging filters for collecting particulate in exhaust ports for communicating an exhaust muffler part and each cylinder with each other, and comparatively increasing a resistance in an exhaust passage positioned on an exhaust downstream side from the exhaust muffler part. SOLUTION: The exhaust manifold in a four cylinder diesel engine consists of an exhaust collecting part 21 and four exhaust ports 22 to 25, and filters for collecting particulate are arranged upward respective exhaust ports 22 to 25. A catalyst, a muffler, and the like are arranged in the exhaust passage positioned on the downstream side from the part 21, and much large passage resistance is formed in the whole of the exhaust passage. As a result, in the exhaust stroke of one cylinder, pressure in a diesel engine side part is reduced more than pressure of the part 21, back flow of exhaust gas is generated in the filter of the other cylinder, and ash is peeled off and removed from the filter.
