Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character code corresponding to a character image displayed on a screen by a simple operation by segmenting image data plotted within a range specified area and performing character recognition to the segmented image data. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a range specifying means 3 for range specifying an optional area on a display screen, an image segmenting means 4 for segmenting the image data plotted within the range specified area from a video memory and a character recognition means 5 for performing the character recognition to the segmented image data. Then, when the range selection of the optional area on the display screen by the range specifying means 3 is performed, the image segmenting means 4 segments the images (bit map data) plotted within the range selected area from the video memory, the character recognition means 5 character-recognizes the segmented image data and thus, the character code is obtained.
