To enable a conventional telephone set and an IP telephone set to phone each other through an extension.
The telephone system comprises the conventional telephone set, a main apparatus for housing the conventional telephone set, an IP telephone server connected to the main apparatus via a network, and the IP telephone set connected to the main apparatus and the IP telephone server via the network. The IP telephone server comprises a means for associating a host name of the conventional telephone set with an IP address of the main apparatus to retain the association, a means for associating the host name of the IP telephone set with the IP address of the IP telephone set to retain the association. Further, the main apparatus comprises a means for associating a telephone number of the conventional telephone set with the host name of the conventional telephone set to retain the association, and a means for associating the telephone number of the IP telephone set with the host name of the IP telephone set to retain the association.
