To make satisfactory operability when another application is started from an application which is being started at present in portable information terminal equipment.
Various picture planes are selectively displayed at a liquid crystal panel 12 having a touch panel 12a according to an application selected from among a plurality of applications. A CPU 21 controls the display of previously specified valid information regardless of the selected application on the picture plane, and when the valid information is touch-operated on the picture plane, the CPU starts an application related with the valid information. For example, date information is obtained as the valid information, and when the date of the date information is tap-operated, the CPU starts an application to specify a schedule, and when the time of the date information is tap-operated, the CPU starts an application to specify a world clock.
