Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten delay time for recognition while maintaining reliability by storing the distance between a target and an own vehicle when an object is lost, by comparing distance to an object with distance when the object is lost when a radar catches the object again, and by recognizing that the object is the target when the difference is a specific value or less. SOLUTION: A signal processing ECU2 receives a beat signal from a radar 3, processes the signal, and obtains the distance a preceding vehicle or a relative speed. Also, the signal processing ECU2 receives a signal from a vehicle speed sensor 4, a yaw rate sensor 5, and a steering sensor 6 and controls a beam steer motor 8 for moving the beam of the radar 3. The vehicle speed sensor 4 detects the speed of an own vehicle. The distance and relative speed when an object is lost are compared with those when the object is caught again and it is instantly recognized that the object is a target when the difference is a specific value or less, thus shortening delay time to the start of the control of the distance between the vehicle and the preceding vehicle and improving the safety of a system.
