Abstract:
To provide a working substance for magnetic refrigeration exhibiting a large magneto-caloric effect nearly at room temperature.
The working substance for the magnetic refrigeration is substantially constituted of a single phase composition of NiAs-type hexagonal structure, and contains the first element essentially including Mn, the second element of As, and the third element substitutable with the second element. The working substance causes magnetic phase transition within a temperature range of 215-318 K.
