To provide a position detection system capable of tracing the position of transmission device, easy to design and arrange the receiving device, wherein labors for executive operation for the receiving device are smaller than the conventional constitution.
The transmission device 1 is composed of: the compressional wave transmission part 11 for intermittently transmitting the compressive waves mounted on the detection object; and the discrimination data transmission part 12 for transmitting the intrinsic discrimination data by the wireless signal of infrared ray as the transmission medium. The receiving device 2 is composed of the compressive wave receiving part 21 for outputting the received wave output including the information of the arrival direction of the compressive wave by receiving the compressive wave and the discrimination data receiving part 22 for receiving the wireless signal including the discrimination data. In the receiving device 2, the receiving interval of the compressive waves by the compressive wave receiving part 22 is limited within the already fixed receptive time set after the discrimination data is received.
