To provide a technique where an arsenic component and sulfur component harmful for recycling are removed from neutral sediment obtained from mining waste water, and is made into the raw material for iron in iron-related refining.
Neutral sediment generated in a water treatment stage for acid mining waste water mainly comprising an iron component, an arsenic and/or sulfur component is made into the alkaline one with a sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide solution, and is thereafter heated and stirred, and the residue after the elution of the arsenic and/or sulfur in the neutral sediment is utilized for iron refining as a part of the raw material. The heating and stirring are performed in an ordinary atmosphere or a pressurizing atmosphere.
