To enable a processor of a system in standby condition to process files generated by a processor of a system currently in use, without necessitating communication between the systems.

This file processing method is executed by the processor of the system in standby condition in a cluster system comprising the processor of the system currently in use, the processor of the system in standby condition, and a shared disk. The method includes a step for specifying a file to be processed, based on control information stored in a control information storage part and from files generated by the processor of the system currently in use and stored in the shared disk, and a step for executing a predetermined process on the specified file within the shared disk. This enables the processor of the system in standby condition to perform file processing such as compression or transfer without communicating with the processor of the system currently in use.
