To provide an organic EL display device having an overcoat on the upper electrode to cover pixels, capable of appropriate self-repair of a short circuit portion in the upper and lower electrodes.
The organic EL display device comprises a pixel 50 having the lower electrode 20, an organic layer 30 including a light emitting layer 33 and an upper electrode 40, each laminated in this order, and a resin overcoat 70 provided on the upper electrode 40 to cover the pixel 50. The resin overcoat 70 contains oxygen as a constitutive element of a silicone resin so that the resin overcoat 70 is dissolved to release a low molecular material containing oxygen, if the upper or lower electrode 20, 40 is short-circuited due to the application of reverse bias voltage lower than a breakdown voltage of the organic layer 30 under voltage application conditions for use.
