Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit, using character recognition for efficiently preventing illegal coping of a particular original. SOLUTION: The image processing unit registers image data of particular characters to a storage means. The image processing unit recognizes the particular characters registered in the storage means, calculates the ratio of the size of the particular characters to the size of an original, and discriminates that the original is the particular original, when the result of ratio indicates a predetermined value of larger. Since the storage means stores the image data of the particular characters, a small memory capacity is sufficient for the storage means and the image processing unit can simply recognize the particular original. The image processing unit can cope with securities newly issued without the need for entry of new image data.
