To provide an IC card payment system with personal authentication function capable of surely performing a personal authentication in the use of an IC card having personal authentication function added thereto, and the IC card used for the system.
This system comprises an object-of-personal authentication acquisition means 2 for acquiring an object of personal authentication; the IC card 1 for performing the registration of authentication data for authenticating an individual to the card or the collation of the card according to whether the IC card is not registered or registered; an IC card reader 3 for performing the transfer of the authentication data between the IC card 1 and a host system 4; and the host system 4. The host system 4 registers the authentication data for authenticating the individual to an authentication pattern registration/accumulation part 43 when the IC card 1 is not registered, performs the collation and determination of the IC card 1, when the IC card 1 is registered, by collating the authentication data transferred from the IC card 1 with the authentication data registered in the authentication pattern registration/accumulation part 43, and returns the collation result to the IC card reader 3.
