To provide a retreating prevention apparatus for a wheelchair, which can be manufactured at a cow cost by simplifying structure and reducing the number of components.

The apparatus is provided with a pair of right and left support frames 6 fitted to the side of a car body 3; a pair of brake arms 9 which is provided with a plurality of tooth-shaped projected lines 16 tilting in the forward rotating direction F of tire wheels 5 in the state of abutting onto the tire wheels at tip ends, whose proximal ends are pivoted respectively rotatably by the support frames 6 , and which convert the projected lines 16 to operating positions of obliquely abutting onto the outer peripheral surfaces of the tire wheels from the forward rotating direction F of tire wheels 5 and a stand-by position of rotating to the sides in the forward rotating direction F of tire wheels 5 and separating from the tire wheels 5; and a holding means 24 for holding the standby positions of the brake arms 9.
