To provide a head-up display (HUD) apparatus for projecting a display image excellent in visibility without being affected by outside light.
The HUD apparatus allows an occupant of a vehicle to visually perceive a virtual image of an image light 81 reflected by a windshield 9 after passing through a cylindrical lens 7, wherein the cylindrical lens 7 is inclined against the image light 81 to thereby reflect outside light reflected on the cylindrical lens 7 not to reach an eye range 3 of the occupant of the vehicle. The cylindrical lens is placed such that an action axis direction for an optical action and a horizontal direction (X direction) in a display image agree with each other. Of the cylindrical lens 7, an inclination angle θx and installation depth d are so set to satisfy that the outside light incident at an angle equal to or greater than an interception upper-limit incident angle θu and reflected by a pass-through side does not arrive at the eye range 3, and the outside light incident at an angle equal to or smaller than the interception upper-limit incident angle θu is intercepted by an instrument panel 2 and can not arrive at the cylindrical lens 7.
