To provide an electric motor drive regenerative control device and an electric motor drive regenerative control method capable of ensuring a battery lifetime, safety and ride quality under all circumstances, by allowing a motor control and regenerative control system to be in a controllable manner irrespective of the speed of a power-assisted bicycle.
A three-phase brushless synchronous motor 8 is controlled at an advance angle so that speed potential generated from the three-phase brushless synchronous motor 8 is not greater than the battery voltage of a battery 10. Accordingly, an application layer 200, a control layer 400 or a device layer to perform the drive and regenerative control of the three-phase brushless synchronous motor 8 are not in uncontrollable states. When the motor 8 is an assistant drive source of a bicycle with an assistant function, the control system is in a constantly controllable state irrespective of the speed of the bicycle. Consequently, a battery 10 is charged by the speed potential of the motor 8, and electric brake can be applied. Further, the battery lifetime, the safety and the ride quality can be ensured.
