To provide a system or the like allowing certain confirmation and identification of a member oneself in a membership store by use of a portable terminal with a reading function of external information.

In this member identification system, personal information including a face photograph inputted from the portable terminal 210 of a customer is attached with a member ID through an identification server 240, and is registered in a member information DB 255 of an information server 250. The customer visiting the membership store starts a membership card application program previously stored in a memory 215 of the portable terminal 210 from the identification server 240, photographs a two-dimensional bar code 201 present inside the store, transmits a membership card application program ID to the identification server 240 of a destination obtained by an analysis result, transfers member information of the corresponding member ID to an information confirmation terminal 230 installed inside the store from the member information DB 255 and is displayed, and a salesclerk performs member confirmation of the customer. Thereafter, the customer is identified as a member by a call addressed to a cellphone number, or mail receipt addressed to a portable mail address of the portable terminal 210 of the customer from the information confirmation terminal 230.
