Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that cross-references a field angle of an optical system zoom lens with an output mode of an imaging device so as to bring an apparent magnification of the optical system zoom lens to a maximum magnification or over. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with a lens control means 6 that controls the optical system zoom lens 1 to control the field angle of the optical system zoom lens 1, an image pickup element 2 that applies photoelectric conversion to an image formed by the optical system zoom lens 1, and a mode control means 7 that switches a 1st mode where signals are individually read from respective pixels of an image pickup area consisting of the pixels of the image pickup element 2 or a 2nd mode where a sum signal from the pixels of the image pickup element 2 is read corresponding to the control by the lens control means 6. By cross-referencing the field angle of the optical system zoom lens 1 with the output mode of the image pickup element 2, an apparent magnification of the optical system zoom lens 1 can be brought to a maximum magnification or over and the deterioration in the image quality can be minimized.
