To provide a digital camera with face sequential light emitting strobe which can obtain a color picture of high quality by using a black/white image pickup element without a color filter.

Strobe light beams of R, G and B are emitted three times from an R light emitting part 52, a G light emitting part 53 and a B light emitting part 54 of the face sequential light emitting strobe 50 in a prescribed order. In an image pickup part having black/white CCD 20 without the color filter, three pictures corresponding to strobe light beams of R, G and B are obtained. Thus, the picture of resolution higher than a color image pickup means with the same number of pixels can be obtained.
