To provide a method for decomposing methane gas hydrate, by supplying the hydrate with a medium which exists in a large amount, is easy to be supplied, and is stable, in a manner different from those of conventional methods for decomposing the methane gas hydrate, and to provide an apparatus for the same.
In this method for taking out methane gas by decomposing the methane gas hydrate existing at a low temperature under high pressure, the methane gas hydrate is changed into a decomposition region, by sending air into the methane gas hydrate which is stable in a phase equilibrium state, and then the methane gas formed by decomposition reaction of the methane gas hydrate is taken out and recovered. The apparatus for taking out the methane gas by decomposing the methane gas hydrate has a means for supplying a required amount of the air to a part in which the methane gas hydrate is stored and a recovery means for recovering the methane, wherein the means for supplying the air and the recovery means for recovering the methane formed by the decomposition of the methane gas hydrate are located on a platform.
