Abstract:
To separate and remove natural radioactive metal ions discharged to river water etc. as uranium ions or radium ions even in a slight amount.
A powder of well-known schwertmannite is mixed and agitated with a liquid containing a slight amount of uranium ions to sorb uranium. The schwertmannite which has sorbed uranium is made to pass through a high gradient magnetic field, and the schwertmannite is collected by a filter installed inside a magnet to separate and remove uranium.
