Abstract:

To improve generation of an arc by a spark plug, by improving homogeneity of a homogeneous air-fuel mixture in the ignition timing, in a cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine for strengthening a tumble flow by injection fuel in homogeneous combustion.

The cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine has: a fuel injection valve 1 arranged in the substantial center of a cylinder upper part; and the spark plug 4 arranged on the intake valve side more than the fuel injection valve in the cylinder upper part. In the homogeneous combustion, the fuel injection valve injects fuel F1 toward the exhaust valve side of a cylinder bore in the last stage of an intake stroke, and injects a smaller quantity of fuel F2 than a fuel quantity injected toward the exhaust valve side of the cylinder bore, into the intake valve side in a cylinder by the fuel injection valve 1 or a separate fuel injection valve, for strengthening the tumble flow T turning in the cylinder by descending along the exhaust valve side of the cylinder bore.
