To provide a method for treating an organic waste material which can efficiently carry out methane fermentation treatment and biological denitrification treatment even if it is a highly concentrated organic waste material, reduce the volume of sludge, and also reduce the loading of a hydrogen donor in the biological denitrification treatment.
After the organic waste material 20 is subjected to methane fermentation in a methane fermentation tank 12, generated digested sludge 23 is supplied to solubilizing equipment 30, in the solubilizing equipment 30, a colloidal process and a liquefying process of the digested sludge 23 are carried out in turn, and liquefied solubilized sludge 24 is introduced into biological denitrification treatment equipment 13 without soli-liquid separation. Preferably, the solubilizing equipment 30 makes the above-described digested sludge 23 into colloid by ozone oxidation in the colloidal process and generates cavitation in the colloidal digested sludge to liquefy in the liquefying process.
